Imphal, January 04 2014 : Khuman Art and Cultural Academy, Kwakeithel Konjeng Leikai feted the artistes of People's Foundation Manipur, Kumbi Bazar, who have won many prizes in the competitions held at different cities of India recently.

The artistes won the prizes in All India Multilingual Shortplay, Theatre Seminar and Dance and Drama Festival held at Bhagalpur, Agra, Gurgaon and Allahbad from September 22 to November 23 last year.

Art and Culture Joint Director S Bheigya, retired Joint Secretary Kh Amujao, Huyel Lalong Thang-Ta Association Chairman and World Thang-Ta Council Chairman H Premkumar graced the function as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.

S Bheigya while speaking at the function said that Manipuri artistes would present Thang-ta shows at Moniwa and Mandalay in Myanmar.

He also exhorted the youth to take interest in learning cultural elements along with pursuing higher education and IT.

Expressing concern over increase of crime rates, Bheigya opined that women can protect themselves upto some extent if they know martial arts.
