Imphal, July 03 2022:
Committee of Civil Societies Kangleipak (CCSK) and Kangleipak Women's Welfare Association (KWWA) have reprimanded a woman claiming to be possessed by the spirit of 'Ebudhou' and desecrating a religious/cultural item of clothing.
The woman at the center of the controversy has been identified as Thoudam Nungshileima, w/o Thoudam Budhachandra from Thoudam Leishangthem.
Addressing media persons during a press conference held today at CCSK office located in Checkon, she said that she had not donned the religious item of clothing (Khamen chatpa phi) with any intentions of malice.
"The viral photo which depicts me touching the religious item of clothing with my feet and so on was not uploaded by me.
Touching the clothing with my feet was also unintentional", she clarified.
Further, she apologised for her mistake and stated she will never repeat such an act again.
In this regard, CCSK and KWWA have jointly advised people to have respect for religious items and act accordingly.
Separately, Uttra Shanglenm also summoned Thoudam Nungshileima today and resolved their differences after educating her about the significance of the aforementioned sacred clothing and receiving assurance from her family members that her behaviour was due to ignorance and not malice.
