Imphal, May 03 2023: Demanding the removal of 48 voters whose names have been included illegally in the voter's list of Sekmai Municipal Council Ward No 1, former Councillor Caretaker, Thiyam Surjit has cautioned that he would file a legal suit in High Court if the their names are not removed at the earliest.

Addressing media persons today at Manipur Press Club, Thiyam Surjit alleged that names of 48 persons from beyond the jurisdiction of Sekmai Municipal Council Ward No 1 were included illegally in the voter's list for the upcoming Municipal Council Election.

"In this regard, a meeting was held on April 25, 2023, participated by members of two clubs/ associations under Sekmai Municipal Council Ward No 1", said Surjit while adding that the meeting resolved to urge the authorities concerned to remove the voters whose names have been included illegally in the voter's list.

He further expressed his anguish over the failure of authorities concerned to take necessary actions despite numerous complaints and appeals.
