Rationalization policy of Govt teachers this month: Okendro

Education Minister Moirangthem Okendro has said that a rationalization policy for teachers in Government schools would be announced within this month.
He was speaking as Chief Guest of 12th foundation day of Democratic Students' Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) held at GP Women's College here today.
Minister Okendro further said that the Education Department is also planning to set up a Textbook Board and uplift the education system in the State.
He also underlined the need for proactive roles of the students' bodies in order to bring a constructive change in the present education system of the State.
Furthermore, he said that a committee would be set up by the Government to oversee the functioning of private schools in the State in accordance with the provisions and guidelines of Right to Education Act.
Those private schools which violate the guidelines of RTE would be derecognized, the Minister warned.
Okendro also announced that the State Government would recruit many teachers under Rashtriya Ucchatar Shikshya Abhiyan (RUSA) to fill up about 2300 vacant teaching posts in various colleges of the State.
The recruitment of teachers would be made on the basis of UGC guidelines.
Moreover, the Government would review the system of recruiting teachers on the basis of marks obtained by the candidates in various board and university examinations, he noted.
New changes in education system would usher in the State through effective implementation of various centrally sponsored schemes such as Sarva Shikshya Abhiyan (SSA) and Rashtriya Madhyamik Shikshya Abhiyan (RMSA).
The Government has also entrusted Manipur Public Service Commission (MPSC) with the task of appointment of regular Principals of Government colleges in the State, Education Minister stated.
Five teachers namely Sougaijam Nimai of Kakching Wairi Junior High School, E Khogen of Wabagai High School, Ningthoukhongjam Ibechaobi of Ram Lal Paul Higher Secondary, Amom Kukil of Wangoo Higher Secondary School and K Jayenta of Canchipur Primary School were also honoured by DESAM during the occasion.
The foundation day was also attended by President of DESAM WM Islauddin as functional President, while Parliamentary Secretary K Meghachandra, Dean of Students' Welfare, Manipur University Prof RK Hemkumar and Principal of GP Women's College Y Chandrasakhi as Guests of Honour.
A blood donation camp was also organized in collaboration with RIMS and JNIMS Blood Banks in connection with the 12th foundation day of DESAM.
