Jingvalpa celebrates 18th anniversary

Jingvalpa (Morning Star in English), a monthly bilingual Magazine in Thadou-Kuki published from Kangpokpi District celebrated its 18th Anniversary today at Good Shepherd English School Campus, Kangpokpi Ward no 11.Kangpokpi Town Committee (KTC) Chairman, Lunseh Kipgen graced the occasion as chief guest while Kangpokpi Town Churches Fellowship (KTCF) vice chairman, Rev Thangboi David attended as the ceremonial minister.

With an aim to convey information or news especially among Thadou speaking Kuki people who could not read newspaper and magazine in other languages, the magazine was published for the first time in 2001 by Robert Hekai Kipgen, a victim of the alleged 1993 Kuki Genocide by NSCN-IM.
Lunseh Kipgen, chairman, KTC unveiled the anniversary plaque in the presence of Rev Thangboi David.
A man of hard-work and inspiration for many Thadou-Kuki speaking people especially the poor and needy, Jingvalpa's Editor, Robert Hekai Kipgen with a very humble beginning conquered the hearts of thousands of people across the State and outside such as Nagaland, Assam, Mizoram, etc.
by his monthly magazine in a very short period while the magazine become the most read and largest circulated Thadou-Kuki monthly magazine for almost two decades.
Jingvalpa Journalism Award has been conferred to Kaybie Chongloi, local Senior Journalist for his transparency, ethics, dedication, sacrifice, visionary write-ups and statesmanship towards the promotion of Journalism while another Journalism Award has been conferred to Onjamang Haokip, Editor Zalen Banner as the longest-serving Editor.
Jingvalpa Music (Visual) Award has been conferred to Jangthang alias JL Khongsai as the 'Father of Thadou-Kuki Music (Visual)' for his contribution in bringing out the first Thadou-Kuki Visual Album, Khannougoul while Jingvalpa Best Model Award has been conferred to S Molnom Model Village.
Jingvalpa Philanthropic Award has been conferred to Kuki Khanglai Lompi (KKL) .
The Awards were arranged by Jingvalpa Managing Board and Committee.
Several Kuki actors and actresses under the aegis of Kuki Film Development Association (KUFIDA), KFDC, Agape Children Home Cultural Troupe, local artiste and various other prominent artistes along with local populace and representatives of civil bodies also attended the programme.
