Imphal, March 02 2016: The protest demonstration against the renaming of the new subdivision of Churachandpur district as 'Kangvai subdivision' under the aegis of Khousabung Subdivision Demand Committee (KSDDC) continued at Khousabung.

The protesters have been demanding renaming of the new subdivision of Churachandpur as Khousabung subdivision with its headquarters at Khousabung as per the wishes of the people covered by the new SDO/BDO circle.

Various social activists and chiefs also joined women folk of the area in the sit-in cum candle light vigil tonight.

No let-up in KSDDC's protest

A massive rally was held on Feb 29 at Khousabung to protest the Cabinet decision of Feb 10 which gave approval to change the nomenclature of Thangting SDO/BDO to Kangvai SDO/BDO.

The public meeting held on Feb 29 strongly demanded the State Govt to roll back its 'biased' decision of Feb 10 within seven days, failing which the public decided to intensify the stir.

KSDDC said that Khousabung in the preferred choice of the people of the area and the State Govt should respect and honour the democratic voice of the people.
