Imphal, June 01 2014: The drivers of four Imphal-bound trucks were reportedly abducted by some armed miscreants from near Bokajan in Assam along the National Highway No.2 on May 27 last month.

The abducted drivers have been identified as the driver of truck bearing registration number AS-01DC/6937 Soibam Khomei (43), s/o Iboyaima of Thoubal Tekcham Maning Ching, driver of truck bearing registration number AS-01DC/0056 Soibam Sanatomba (26), s/o Iboyaima of Thoubal Tekcham Maning Ching, driver of truck bearing registration number AS-01DC/6738 Langpoklakpam Sarat (38), s/o Prem of Keirak Dam, and driver of truck bearing registration number AS-01DC/3060 Elangbam Rome (30) of Irengband Kakching.

According to sources, the four trucks loaded with fruits, biscuits and other eatables from Guwahati were heading towards Imphal along the NH-2 on May 27 last month.

The drivers were abducted by some miscreants at gun-point while they were halting near a petrol pump in Karbi Anglong district of Assam.

The drivers were reportedly abducted by the miscreants for a ransom of Rs.30 lakh.

The whereabouts of the abducted drivers still remained unknown.
