Opposition raised against renaming of Thangjing

Bishnupur, June 30 2015 : Joint Committee Tiddim has appealed State Government not to rename 'Thangjing' as 'Thangting' as and when a new sub-division is created in Thangjing area under Churachandpur district.

A public meeting held earlier at Shanti Mandop, Moirang resolved that Thangjing should retain its original name.

The Joint Committee has no objection to the creation of a new sub-division but it would not accept renaming Thangjing as Thangting.

Members of the committee held a meeting with Revenue Minister Th Debendra and Parliamentary Secretary M Prithiviraj on April 30 this year.

During the meeting, the Government representatives assured to review the Cabinet decision on the creation of a new sub-division in the name of Thangting.

In case the State Government fails to look into the matter and do the needful, the joint committee would be compelled to launch all kinds of agitation, conveyed a press release.
