Rs.50 cr for promotion of arts & culture

Imphal, June 30 2011: To promote arts and culture of the state, Union Minister Kumari Selja has asked the state Chief Minister to give a Detailed Project Report (DPR) so that a Rs.50 crore project could be sanctioned at the earliest, reported Health Minister L Jayentakumar.

This was disclosed at the closing function of the month long training on Shumang Leela organized by the Manipur State Shumang Leela Council and Theatre Mirror held today at Iboyaima Shumang Leela Shanglen, Palace Compound.

Speaking as chief guest of the function Minister Jayentakumar further said that the amount which is to be sanctioned needs to be used in the right way.

For this, all sections of the society are requested to suggest ways and means as to how and where the amount could be used in the right way.

IMC Chairperson N Raghumani and secretary of Manipur State Kala Academy Sh Bideshwar attended the function as president and guest of honour respectively.

Fifty trainees including 14 women took part in the month long training programme.
