Notification on ADC elections issued

Imphal, April 30 2015 :
The state election commission on Thursday has issued a notification on the election of one member each to the Autonomous District Council constituencies of Chandel, Churachandpur, Sadar Hills, Senapati, Tamenglong and Ukhrul.
The notification issued by secretary TH Chitra further said that the last date of filing nomination papers is May 6.The scrutiny will be held the next day and the last date of withdrawal of the nomination papers is May 11 .
The polls, if necessary, shall be held on June 1.Polling hours will be from 7 am to 4:30 pm.
Another notification issued by N.Angangjao, sub divisional officer, Purul who was designated as the Returning Officer said that a member of Senapati Autonomous District Council each will be elected from the ADC constituencies.
The constituencies are Phaibung Khullen, Ngari Khullen, Lakhamai, Purul, Oinam and Koide.
The nomination papers should be submitted by May 6.The scrutiny will be held on May 7 and may be withdrawn is May 11.If necessary elections will be held on June 1 .
The Mao Maram sub divisional officer Gangmei Ganglullu in a notification is inviting nomination papers from intending candidates for the election of a member of the Senapati Autonomous District Council from each of the constituencies.
These are Makhel Keibi, Pudunami, Punanamei, Songsong, Yangkhullen, Willong Khullen, Maram, Lairouching, Chawnamei,Tadubi, Oklong and Karong.
The dates for sudmission and withdrawal of the nomination papers remain the same as above.
The pollings, if necessary, shall be held on June 1 .

A total of 6, 88, 410 electors will cast their ballot in this ADC polls.
Ukhrul ADC has 1, 01, 492 electors; Senapati ADC has 1, 35, 395; Sadar Hills ADC has 96, 688; Churachandpur ADC has 1, 81, 494; Chandel has 87, 619 and Tamenglong ADC has 85, 722 electors.
5815 polling personnel will be employed for the smooth conduct of the ADC polls.
Voters will exercise their voting rights in a total of 1163 polling stations, from which 290 will be for Churachandpur, 144 for Chandel, 165 for Tamenglong, 206 for Ukhrul, 168 for Senapati and 172 polling stations for Sadar Hills ADC.
State Election Commission Secretary Th Chitra appealed to the public and other bodies to co-operate with the commission in making the ADC election a 'free, fair and peaceful' election.
She also announced that an all party meeting will be held at the commission office at 2 pm on Friday.
On the other hand, with the announcement of the model code of conduct, any financial undertakings and activities such as financial grants and other projects involving finance is ceased.
It is prohibited from making any inauguration and laying foundations etc as such activities may indirectly or directly benefit one or the many political parties that will be contesting in the ADC elections.
