AR conducts mega social service event

Imphal, January 31 2019:
Mantripukhri Battalion of 9 Sector Assam Rifles, under the aegis of IGAR (South), organised a mega social service event in Kairang Komidok and Ahallup areas of Imphal yesterday.
As part of the event, a free medical and skill development camp was organised.
In addition, three solar street lights and six sewing machines were distributed as part of Operation Sadhbhavna.
The Battalion, on receiving the request for installation of solar street lights during its monthly security meet, provided and installed three solar street lights in the locality.
In addition, as part of endeavour for women empowerment, the Battalion provided six sewing machines to the needy women of Ahallup village to make them self reliant and to provide a source of income.
As part of the medical camp, free consultation and medication was provided to over 400 needy patients by doctors of Assam Rifles and by doctors provided by Chief Medical Officer, Imphal East.
Free skill counselling to over 300 villagers was provided by representatives of JCRE Skill Solutions which is the first National Skill Development Corporation certified partner in Manipur.
The inaugural programme witnessed an attendance of over 500 villagers of Kairang Komidok and Ahallup villages during which Brigadier Amit Kabthiyal, Commander 9 Sector Assam Rifles formally handed over the solar street lights and the sewing machines to the village authorities.
While lauding the efforts of Mantripukhri Battalion for its initiative in reaching out to the needy, Brigadier Amit Kabthiyal assured the villagers that Assam Rifles will continue its work for the safety and welfare of the people of Manipur.
The villagers appreciated the gesture of the Assam Rifles in reaching out to them and expressed hope that this would go a long way in further cementing the bond between the people of Manipur and the forces and reaffirming the faith of the people in the Assam Rifles as "Friends of Manipur" .
