IMC workers staged sit-in-protest

Workers of Imphal Municipality Council (IMC) yesterday staged a sit-in-protest in front of their office demanding implementation of 6th Pay Commission at the earliest.
Today's sit-in-protest was in pursuance of the resolutions adopted by the Joint Co-ordination Committee of IMC in its meeting held on December 26.The meeting also resolved to submit a memorandum to Chandrasekhar, president of All India Municipal Federation and Governor of Manipur urging to implement the 6th Pay Commission without further delay and apprise Presow Shimray, president of INTUC about the course of agitation to be taken up the JAC in connection with the demand.
Speaking on the sidelines of the protest demonstration, O Dinamani, president of the JAC stated that the sit-in-protest will continue till the 6th Pay Commission is implemented for workers of IMC and informed that employees of departments affiliated to INTUC will also be joining the protest.
He informed that workers of IMC have not received 18 months' salary of 5th Pay Commission forget about 6th Pay Commission and expressed resentment over the State Government for not addressing the grievances of the workers.
Making it clear that the committee will be launching a series of intense democratic agitations in collaboration with JAC Action Committee of INTUC, he said workers of IMC will not leave any stone unturned in trying to meet their demand for implementation of 6th Pay Commission.
