Lilong JAC calls road blockade stir from Aug 2

Thoubal, July 30 2022: JAC Lilong Kendra Development Co-ordinating Committee has announced imposition of a 72-hour blockade of Imphal-Moreh National Highway 102 from midnight of August 2 till to protest non-dispersal of compensation to the flood affected people of Ngangou Loukon in Thoubal district.

Speaking to the media, JAC convenor Md Madani Ali expressed strong resentment that the government is yet to provide compensation to people of Ngangou Loukon which falls under Lilong assembly constituency, who were severely affected by the flood that occurred on July 2, 2017 .

While pointing out that the JAC had on July 2 appealed to the government to distribute the said compensation amount within July 28, the convener reasoned that as there has been no positive response the HAC has decided to launch the road blockade agitation for 72 hours if the government continues to ignore the demand.

While urging CSOs, students' organisations and the public to support the agitation, he stated that the bandh will be exempted for essential services and religious events.
