Child Line Bishnupur observed World Day Against Trafficking in Persons under the theme 'Let's act now to protect and assist trafficking victims' at Advanced Public School, Moirang.
Nodal officer Childline Nitu Singh, District Child Protection officer Bishnupur N Nadashyam Singh, 2nd OC Moirang PS, SI Suresh Arambam, District E-governance Society Bishnupur District Manager Prasanta Oinam and Advanced Public School Vice principal Ch Swamikumar Singh attended the programme as presidium members.
Speaking on the occasion, Nitu Singh explained that human trafficking is the exploitation of a human body in different ways.
She stressed on the responsibilities and the need of an individual to protect human trafficking victims and incidents.
She added that the public in association with all the Government Departments should work together and prevent the rapid rise in number of human trafficking cases in Manipur.
Meanwhile, Director Childline Bishnupur L Pishak said that human trafficking is one of the illegal profession that can generate money easily.
L Pishak appealed all to take such cases seriously and extend their maximum help in preventing this inhuman act.
Students and youths should be aware and search more about it as the North Eastern states especially Manipur is prone to human trafficking cases, L Pishak claimed.
Later, a short documentary depicting the process and usual steps of human trafficking was also shown.
