Imphal, December 29 2021:
Amid the tight security measures being taken up in the State capital on account of the proposed visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, one warehouse at Telipati has partially been damaged in a bomb attack in the wee hours of today.
According to police, the IED exploded at around 3.36 am and in the attack the gate of the warehouse made of GI sheet was damaged.
No casualties have been reported.
The warehouse belongs to Ramnath Sahu (75) who runs a grocery store at Khwairamband Keithel.
Adjacent to the warehouse, there is a workshop for stone crusher machines and rented rooms being occupied by non-locals.
As per CCTV footage, the bomb exploded after one person who came from Khurai side earlier left the warehouse.
A team of Imphal East police and bomb disposal squad inspected the blast site.
A case has been registered at Porompat police station.
Meanwhile, Imphal West commando carried out a search operation in the adjoining areas of Keishampat and Keishamthong this morning.
During the operation carried out under the command of Inspector P Achouba, Officer in Charge Imphal West commando, around 170 persons were verified including nine cadres of underground outfits who are on bail.
