Imphal, October 29 2024:
World Meetei Council (WMC) has extended warm greetings for Ningol Chakkouba, a festival which strengthens the bond of love and affection between brothers and sisters.
In a release issued today, the WMC stated that the violence which erupted from May 3, 2023 has left more than 60,000 homeless who have become refugees in their own land.
"The violence has shattered our livelihoods and impacted various professions," said the WMC, urging people to buy products made by relief camp inmates and not spend extravagantly on gifts.
It also urged the people to remember the brave souls who have sacrificed their lives for the motherland on Ningol Chakkouba, and pray to Lainingthou for peace and tranquility to prevail in the State.
