Thoubal District Hospital closed, inquiry committee to be constituted

Thoubal, July 29 2018:
Thoubal District Hospital was closed today after family members and relatives of a child who had died yesterday due to drowning vandalised properties of the hospital alleging negligence on the part of the doctors and staff of the hospital that has led to the death of the child while Imphal-Moreh road along NH-102 were temporarily blocked by the enraged public demanding commission of committee to initiate inquiry on the issue.
On the other hand, a JAC was formed in connection to the death of the child after a public meeting was held today at Khangabok Part-Ill community hall while a protest rally was also held raising slogans for the removal of careless doctors and staffs of Thoubal District Hospital who have not performed their duty to save the child.
Sit-in-protest was also staged at Khangabok Keithel as a continuation of their agitation.
MLA Khangabok AC O Surjakumar also rushed to Khangabok part-Ill to control the situation.
Meanwhile, a meeting was held between the representatives of the JAC and the Health Minister L Jayentakumar in the presence of DC Thoubal and SP Thoubal at Minister's residential bungalow around 1 pm.
While assuring the JAC's representative that an inquiry committee will be set up to investigate the matter and a report will be submitted to him within 24 hours, Health Minister conveyed the representative that action will be taken against the doctors and staff of Thoubal district hospital if they were found guilty.
