At MLA's intervention, SUPC calls off stir

Ukhrul, September 27 2017:
Following the intervention of Ukhrul AC MLA Alfred Kangam Arthur, the Students Union of Pettigrew College (SUPC) has decided to suspend their agitation immediately without further delay .
The announcement came after the MLA held a discussion with the student leaders in the presence of Pettigrew College Principal Dr Ninghorla in her office chamber .
After patiently hearing the grievances and demands of the students, the MLA assured to provide the basic requirements at the earliest which prompted the students to withdraw their protest from today .
Stressing on the importance of creating a conducive atmosphere at the college, the MLA said that such a situation needs to be created wherein the college can provide the best education to the students and make them excel at all level .
Alfred urged the student community to have confidence in his commitment.
The door is open for discussion anytime, added the MLA .
The students expressed their resentment with the apathy of the Government apathy and the negligence of the college authority for long .
The MLA also assured to instal a Biometric at the college immediately for both students and lecturers to check and prevent irregularities .
The lecturers of Pettigrew College said that with the timely intervention of the local MLA the situation has become stable.
