Imphal, July 27 2011:
The anganwadi workers and helpers of Bishnupur district are facing a hard time trying to acquire their honorarium through their respective accounts.
The anganwadi workers and helpers of this district used to acquire their honorariums previously through the Bishnupur police station.
During those time the anganwadi workers and helpers didn't have to face any sort of trouble.
But now due to the implementation of this new pattern where the honorariums are received through their personal accounts, the workers and helpers are facing a hard time because they have to collect their honorariums from the Manipur Rural bank at Nambol, said an anganwadi worker from Bishnupur.
He said that there are around 900 anganwadi workers and helpers in this district.
Their honorarium for four months is being distributed at Manipur Rural bank at Nambol for the last 13 days and is still continuing.
The anganwadi workers and helpers speaking to the press told that they waste around 4 to 5 days unnecessarily just to come to the bank and collect their honorariums.
Around 50 persons honorariums are distributed in a day.
Since nobody knows when their turn will come, they have to come to the bank everyday to check whether their turn comes up or not.
Authorities need to highlight the list in papers so that the people are not harassed.
Some anganwadi workers have to travel for about 15 to 20 kms and return back home empty handed because their names were not on the list for the day.
They have to come again 4 to 5 times unnecessarily spending a whole lot of money on travelling expences.
If these problems are to be face by them then they would prefer acquiring their honorarium from the Bishnupur police station as done before, complained the workers.
