DoNER Day celebrated

Like in other North East States including Sikkim, the fortnight long celebration of DoNER ( Ministry of North Eastern Region) Day was celebrated today at City Convention Centre, Imphal in a befitting manner.
The programme was attended by Additional Chief Secretary WL Hangshing; Commissioner Planning, Vineet Joshi; Secretary MAHUD, RK Dinesh; Director, MAHUD, N Geetkumar and representatives from urban local bodies.

Speaking at the occasion, RK Dinesh said Ministry of DoNER was started on May 27, 2004 .
He also recalling that the DoNER Day is celebrated today in various North eastern States.
As part of the celebration, Swachhta Pakhwada with cleanliness drive all over Imphal with the involvement of NGOs will commence on May 28.On May 29, awareness programme with officials and elected representatives of urban local bodies regarding declaration of Open Defecation Free (ODF) status by ULBs will be held.
On June 5, street play on cleanliness and sanitation will be released and on June 7, cycle rally to generate awareness about cleanliness and sanitation will be taken out.
On June 11, a painting competition on the theme 'Clean Imphal' and closing programme of Swachhta Pakhwada and discussion will be held.
