As part of the upcoming observation of World Tourism Day 2019, the Longmai Nature Club in close co-ordination with Forest Division, Noney launched its ambitious poster campaign under the banner 'Green Longmai' yesterday.
A press release issued by president, LNC said that the launching event was held in presence of Divisional Forest Officer Noney, Napolean Rongmei, who is also the ex-officio chairman of the club.
Under this campaign, over 1000 posters, signboards, pamphlets and stickers containing messages, facts & figures, printed in all the major dialects spoken in the district will be put up in some selected areas, where the environment/area is affected the most.
It stated that the campaign will ensure the ideal of 'sustainable development' and 'green effort' of the Government reaches every nook and corners of the district.
Lauding the cabinet's decision to hold this year's edition of World Tourism day at Longmai, the club extended its warm welcome to Chief Minister and his team.
It expressed belief that organising such events will take the area's potential tourism industry to a new height.
The club, in its effort to make Longmai a plastic free town will work in close co-ordination with several CSOs, Churches, schools and colleges in the district, in raising mass awareness.
The club cautioned all the organisers of every major event both religious and secular in Longmai DHQs to be very mindful of the waste management system.
