Class X, XII results within Jul 31: Minister Rajen

Education minister S Rajen Singh has spelt out the modalities for allotment of marks to the student candidates who were enrolled for appearing in the class X and XII exams scheduled to be conducted respectively by BOSEM and COHSEM but were cancelled due to COVID-19 pandemic.
Speaking to newspersons, he informed that as there is an order of the Supreme Court to announce the results of classes X and XII examination within July 31, the education department is preparing to honour decree of the apex court.
Minister Rajen informed newspersons at his Old Secretariat conference hall on Saturday that cancellation of the annual examinations in the aftermath of Covid-19 pandemic is not only limited to Manipur but all the states of the country.
He said that a total of 44,068 students who had registered for appearing in the class X examination were from 962 schools, including private institutions, of the state registered under the BOSEM.
While stating that toppers of the HSLC 2021 exam will not be announced this year, minister Rajen explained that for each student, the maximum marks to be assessed for each subject is 100, out of which 20 marks would be for Internal Assessment of the school, 30 marks from the previous class (Class IX exam record) and 50 marks will be considered on the basis of the performance of the students in the pre-board exams (term test and periodic test) conducted in their respective schools.
For class XII, 30 marks would be enumerated from the Class X record (three best subjects), 20 marks from Class XI and 50 marks from Class XII test examinations conducted by the respective schools.
Students who are not satisfied with the marking modalities can approach the officials concerned and arrangement will be made for special exams, he assured, adding that a total of 29,517 students had registered for class XII exam 2021.Regarding students who could not submit the filled-up exam forms in time due to the COVID-19 pandemic, minister Rajen confided that as the education department alone cannot take decision on the matter it will be referred to the cabinet.
Education commissioner M Harekrishna, director L Nandakumar Singh, deputy secretary T Phulen Meitei, chairmen and secretaries of COHSEM and BOSEM, controllers of examinations and other officials were also present during the media briefing.
