Irked with the alleged game of delaying tactics and excuses to deny giving posting places to the newly appointed 280 Assistant Professors, ATSUM has demanded immediate issuance of posting orders to the Assistant Professors today.
The student body also asked the State Government not to waste Government money by giving salary to the newly appointed Assistant Professors without actually allowing them to do their job of teaching the students.
Speaking to the media, general secretary of ATSUM, Seiboi Haokip said that the process of recruiting the 280 Assistant Professors in 28 Government colleges by MPSC started on November 15, 2014 vide Advertisement No.15/2014.He continued that after a prolonged legal battle pertaining in the High Court of Manipur, the High Court finally gave the verdict/judgment on October 11, 2017 thereby directing the Government of Manipur to take up necessary action for the declaration of the result by MPSC within a month's time.
However, the MPSC after inordinate delay could declare the result only on November 6,2017 maintained Seiboi Haokip while adding that the Department of Higher and Technical Education, Government of Manipur issued offer letters to the MPSC recommended candidates on December 13, 2017 followed by the Appointment Order on January 12, 2018 .
The teachers who were made to join the Secretariat, Higher and Technical Education Department without giving posting places.
The ATSUM general secretary further said that despite huge shortage of teachers in almost all the Government colleges, the Government is still using all sorts of delaying tactics and excuses to deny giving posting places to the appointed Assistant Professors.
While strongly demanding the government to issue posting order without any further delay, the ATSUM general secretary said that despite numerous assurances to issue posting order, the Government had never kept its words.
