Hall inaugurated at Singhat

Newly constructed Seijamang Haokip Memorial Hall was inaugurated on November 23 at Mongbung village in Sangaikot Block of Singhat AC .
The hall was constructed under BRGF at the cost of Rs 5 lakhs.
Together with the inaugural function, a one-day political conference was also held there.
Addressing the conference which was attended by a large number of villagers including village chiefs and social workers, MLA Hangkhanpao lamented that Singhat AC remains backward on account of electing different MLAs at the end every term.
Stating that no single MLA was elected twice consecutively in Singhat AC, Hangkhanpao called upon gathering to ponder over the matter if they wish to make up the backwardness of the Assembly segment.
He also called upon the people to stop the practice of starting anew after every Assembly elections.
Claiming that development work of roads have been taken up under PMGSY at the cost of Rs 38 crores and opened 53 Anganwadi centres in addition to electrifying most of the villages, Hangkhanpao disclosed that he was trying to take up more development works and also to execute more expeditiously by joining the ruling party.
Speaking at the conference, Hmar Inpui executive member Bula Hmar declared that Hmar community of the constituency who number around 1200 have resolved to support the sitting MLA.
The function was presided by Singhat Area Kuki Chiefs' Association president Ngulkholum Haokip.
