Absconder in police net

Imphal, August 25 2011:
Police have arrested a man who has been on the run after stabbing another person during a clash among the supporters of two aspiring candidates of the upcoming Assembly election.
The accused identified as Takhallambam Babuchand (50) of Chanam Sandrok under Irilbung Police Station of Imphal East district was arrested by a police team from a rice hotel located near Kusum Oil Pump opposite to Palace Compound at around 11 am today.
Babuchand alleged stabbed one Taorem Subon (55) of the same locality on August 14.The injured Subon had been hospitalised at JNIMS while Babuchand has been hiding since then.
Both are supporters of two different aspiring candidates who are planning to contest in the upcoming Assembly election from Keirao Assembly Constituency.
The two aspiring candidates namely Thongram Tony (42) of Thiyam Konjil and Thongram Gopen (35) of Chanam Sandrok are related to each other.
The accused Babuchand was produced before a court today after which he has been remanded to police custody.
