Chairmen nominated as interim Chairmen of ADCs

Imphal, May 25 2021: As holding of the ADC election is not feasible in the current Covid situation, Chairmen of Autonomous District Councils have been nominated as interim Chairmen with no financial power.

The Chairmen will hold the post as caretaker until a fresh election is conducted.

It is to be noted that the order to this effect was issued by the Additional Chief Secretary and TA & HiIls on May 17 as per the recommendation of the State Executive Committee of Relief and Disaster Management Department.

The financial transaction of the ADC will be signed by the Deputy Commissioners or the Executive Officers of the districts concerned while the routine duty of the Councils will be looked after by the caretakers.

Meanwhile, the chairman forum of six ADCs lauded Chief Minister N Biren Singh and his Council of Ministers and Chairman of Hill Area Committee K Leishiyo for appointing the caretaker Chairmen in view of the Covid pandemic.
