Drivers' union threatens

The All Manipur Road Transport Drivers' and Motor Workers' Union has threatened to close FSD Sangaiprou and FSD Koirengei in case the e-tender process which is underway at FCI, Assam Region is not stopped immediately and the necessary process of e-tender is not done within April 10, 2015 at the Imphal regional office for transportation of food grains from Silchar to Imphal.
In a memorandum submitted to Union CAF&PD Minister Ram Vilas Paswan, the All Manipur Road Transport Drivers' and Motor Workers' Union highlighted that transporters, truckers and drivers of the State have been enduring severe hardship towards maintenance of their families since September last year.
The memorandum also reminded about the Union Minister's assurance and instruction to FCI officials to look into the grievances of truck drivers of Manipur regarding transportation of goods from Jiribam to Imphal when he visited the State sometime back.
Moreover, the mega block put up along the railway line from Lamding to Silchar has been already removed.
In spite of grand welcome accorded to broad gauge engine at Silchar, the FCI authority has not taken any appropriate action for transportation of food grains from Silchar to Imphal even after more than 340 days of the Union CAF&PD Minister's visit to Imphal, it pointed out.
