Imphal, December 24 2015 :
With regard to the ongoing peace process with the Government of India (GoI) and the framework agreement signed on August 3, the NSCN-IM has categorically stated that solution of the kind of National political issue is by nature, principle-based, not majority-based.
As invited by the Government of India (GoI), NSCN is engaged in a political dialogue with the GoI.
After 18 years of tough negotiations, the GoI and NSCN signed the historic 'framework agreement' on August 3, 2015.GoI represents India whereas NSCN represents the Nagas (Nagalim).
It is a political talk between the two entities, said a statement issued by the outfit's MIP.
The 'framework agreement' is based on the uniqueness of Naga history, which means Nagas are a free people and they have never been a part of Union of India or Burma or any other power either by conquest or consent.
Both the parties agreed that sovereignty, according to the universal principle of democracy, lies with the people, not Government or monarch.
And that sovereignty of the Nagas lies with the Naga people and sovereignty of India lies with the Indian people.
However, with a view to solving the Indo-Naga political problem, both the parties agreed to share sovereign power for an enduring and peaceful co-existence of the two entities.
The agreement also says that land and its resources of both below and above the earth totally belong to the Nagas.
The Nagas will have the right to exercise their sovereign power over their territories.
Nagas are the master of their land, said the outfit.
The GoI has now recognized the unique identity of the Nagas, which is a bold step forward.
NSCN believes in the principle of growing and walking with time and tide.
As dictated by the objective reality NSCN is bound to go for a kind of solution, which is transitional to the final goal, it added.
"We do not believe in the myth of solving problem through unprincipled consensus.
Solution of the kind of National political issue is by nature, principle-based, not majority-based.
One should be fully informed of the political line of one's people", it asserted.
All Nagas should unite in the line of the people, which is their rallying point.
Nagas should be sufficiently warned of groups or individuals propagating hypocritical slogans and high sounding phrase with no foundation whatsoever.
"We are very much clear with regard to the road map for the final solution of the Indo-Naga issue.
The agreement arrived at between the two parties (India and Nagas) will constitute the final political settlement that is acceptable and honourable to both India and the Nagas", it continued.
The political settlement shall not come via any other route including pre-conditions or the Constitution of India.
It must also be adequately understood that there is no other peace process or political negotiation outside the present one between the GoI and the NSCN, in which the process had started at the highest level, without pre-condition and outside India in a third country and consequently, the GoI recognized the unique history and situation of the Nagas and a "Framework Agreement" was arrived at.
The Framework Agreement lays down the foundation for an acceptable and honourable settlement between India and the Nagas.
In the recent past it has also come outside the public domain concerning groups or individuals who are desirous of a separate solution in opposition to a united approach to the Naga solution based on national principles.
But in spite of such serious provocation from certain corners all Nagas are very much informed about the position of the NSCN and its leadership with regard to the invitation extended for a unified approach of the Naga solution.
"Yaruiwo Isak Chishi Swu has issued a statement appealing to all people to forgive our (NSCN) past mistakes, we have also forgiven their past mistakes, big or small." He further stated that all are welcomed to the peace process resulting in the recent signing of the 'framework agreement", it recalled.
