Yumnam Joy to be awarded Dr Ambedkar National Fellowship

Yumnam Joy Singh has said that he has been intimated by the Bharatiya Dalit Sahitya Akademi for conferring Dr Ambedkar 34 National Fellowship Award - 2018.Joy went on to claim that the said award will be conferred to him in recognition of his treatment in healing various types of illness to many people in the State.
Addressing a press meet held today at Manipur Press Club, Imphal, Joy informed that he is fourth son among eight siblings of Y Amuba of Ngaikhong Siphai in Bishnupur district.
He grew up with a poor health condition ana obtained his Masters degree (in Philosophy) from Kurukshetra University, Haryana despite challenging severe illness, including kidney diseases, he said.

He further said that he bought various MBBS books for Rs 50,000 and taught himself.
He soon started treating himself, he said.
Claiming that he had cured his illness himself with the appliance of the knowledge he possessed from studying the medical books some twenty years back, Joy stated that he has also treated various kinds of diseases for many patients, particularly neurological aspects by opening a clinic at his own house.
"I was asked to submit the' names of 10 patients whom I had treated by Bharatiya Dalit Sahitya Akademi, following which I gave names of 30 patients to the Akademi," he said.
"The Akademi informed me later that I will be conferred with the Dr Ambedkar 34 National Fellowship Award - 2018, in recognition of my service," he added.
Joy also informed that the fellowship will be given to him on December 9 this year.
