MPS protests Army move

Students and teaching staff of Manipur Public School, Koirengei today protested imposing ban on parking of teachers' vehicles at school campus and school buses at Old Airfield by the Army.
The students and teachers formed a human chain near the school campus on NH-2 and protested Army's move.
The school authority is allegedly asked by the nearby Territorial Army Unit to park their vehicles on the side of NH-2 .
Speaking to the media persons, a teacher of Manipur Public School, said that the Army have been constantly hindering the teachers from parking their vehicles inside school campus and Old Airfield.
He alleged that the Army not only intervene into construction of school buildings but also frequently come to the school campus, which in turn disturbs the academic atmosphere of the school.
The school authority had complained the matter to higher authority of the Army and Manipur Public School Chairman.
However, no positive response has been given so far, he added.
The teacher said that the Army told them that the area would be fenced with barb wire soon.
A student said that educational atmosphere is disturbed due to frequent coming of Army personnel to the school.
He further appealed to the authority concerned to look into the matter at the earliest.
