Imphal, December 23 2012:
In view of Christmas, Film Forum Manipur (FFM), Manipur State Shumang Leela Council (MSSLC) and other supporting CSOs have decided to suspend the indefinite bandh till midnight of December 26 .
The decision to suspend the bandh has been taken after a prolonged discussion among the members of MFF, MSSLC and CSOs taking into due consideration of the appeals made from various quarters for lifting the bandh in view of the upcoming Christmas.
The meeting, however, resolutely decided to resume the stir after December 26 midnight till the demand for arrest and punishment of NSCN (IM) cadre Livingstone, who molested film actress Momoco and opened fire at two other male artistes during a musical concert at Chandel district headquarters, is fulfilled.
Announcing suspension of the bandh to the media after the meeting, members of FFM, MSSLC and other supporting CSOs also appealed to the people to restrain themselves from using any communal words and doing anything during the course of agitation that could provoke communal tension and conflict.
Reacting to the claim of NSCN-IM that Livingstone slapped Momoco in a fit of anger after the actress made a provocative gesture against the Nagas, the agitators asserted that it was a blatant lie and Momoco never made any provocative gesture to anyone.
They also demanded that NSCN (IM) to withdraw its baseless claim/statement.
