Organ donation day

As a part of the organ donation campaign which was launched on October 24, Organ Donation Day was observed today at Slopeland Public School, Khongjom.
Among others, the observance was attended by former Art and Culture Minister Dr M Nara, Gamdarpam general secretary Brajaroy and nephrologist Dr Diipankar Sarkar.
Speaking at the gathering, Dr Nara said uninfected people can donate eyes, heart, lungs, liver, kidney, skin and other organs after death.
By donating organs after death, one can give a new lease of life to other people who are in need of the donated organs.
The campaign was organised specifically to encourage people donate organs after death.
Organ Donation Day is observed across the country on November 18 every year since 2010 .
Brajaroy people with dysfunctional heart, liver or kidney who are about to die can lead a healthy life if they can replace their dysfunctional organs given by donors.
A man whose brain is dead would die certainly but he can still donate his heart, lung, liver, kidney, cornea and skin, Brajaroy said.
