Imphal, May 23 2020:
Alleging that the Community Quarantine Centre (CQC) opened at boys and girls hostel of Lilong Haoreibi College is in pathetic condition, ex MLA L Ibomcha Singh has appealed to the State Government to look into the matter at the earliest.
In a statement, L Ibomcha maintained that the CQC is currently housing 102 inmates who returned from UP and Uttrakhand.
Claiming that the State Government has not inspected the said centre so far, the ex MLA contended that the CQC at Lilong Haoreibi lacks many facilities such as drinking water, meal, dustbin etc.
The returnees there also did not receive the cash assistance (Rs 200) that was 'announced by the Government,' he said and expressed concern over the alleged threat from the inmates that they will leave the CQC if the Government fails to redress their inconvenience by 2 pm tomorrow.
He also said that it would prove disastrous for the State if there is a positive case(s) among them.
Pointing out that Union Donor Minister Dr Jitendra Singh released Rs 822.22 crore for the State for COVID management on May 20 and the State Health Minister sought Rs 100 crore more from the centre as an emergency fund, L Ibomcha opined that the Centre is unlikely to release the sought amount without furnishing the utilization certificate of the previous amount if the fund was transferred as cash.
The MLA then suggested the State Government to focus more on improving the condition of quarantine centres opened in the State with all available resources.
