Imphal, November 22 2021: The Manipur Pradesh Congress (MPCC) has filed a petition before the Speaker of Manipur Legislative Assembly, seeking disqualification of MLAs RK Imo and Yamthong Haokip.

RK Imo is an unattached MLA from Sagolband AC while Yamthong Haokip represents Saikul AC.

According to MPCC general secretary (election & media) S Jeeten, the two MLAs joined the BJP on November 8 last against Article 191 of the Constitution and Sub-Clause I, Para II of the Tenth Schedule.

Speaking to media persons after submitting the petition at the Assembly gate, S Jeeten said that the Speaker's Tribunal would surely close the case as soon as possible if they respect the Constitution of India.

He also exuded confidence that the Supreme Court would give its ruling on December 9 against the 12 BJP MLAs who were appointed as Parliamentary Secretaries.
