Imphal, May 22 2018:
Reacting to a statement of RN Ravi, the Government of India's interlocutor for the ongoing political dialogue with NSCN-IM, Shiv Sena, Manipur unit has stated that it will never accept any attempt to draw ethnic-based boundaries within the State of Manipur.
Speaking to media persons at their Babupara office today, Shiv Sena Manipur unit president M Tombi warned the Central Government not to invite another mass uprising like the mass civil movement of June 2001 or a third Nupi Lan.
Shiv Sena is an ally of the NDA but it would always work in the interest of the people particularly when the State faces critical issues like its integrity.
It is a matter of serious concern that many non-local people come to the State with an intention to settle here permanently.
He pointed out that Manipur is a very small State.
To Shiv Sena, the interest of the State and the people will always precede all political interests, Tombi asserted.
He said that Shiv Sena would not raise any objection when the Central and State Governments take up a slew of development projects for the Nagas.
Nonetheless, Shiv Sena has instructed all its MPs to fight collectively in the Parliament if the Central Government adopts any decision to set up a separate administration within the State of Manipur, he said.
The Central leaders of the party have also been requested not to take any decision without consent of the people of Manipur even if a Bill related to the Framework Agreement is tabled in the winter session of Parliament, Tombi said.
Commenting on the arrest of Rohingyas at Imphal, he demanded that all those involved in bringing and sheltering them should be booked.
Notably, eight Rohingyas were arrested from Hatta Golapati yesterday.
