Marangching protest figures in House

Opposition Member Kh Joykisan today raised a call attention motion in the State Assembly regarding the ban imposed on National projects in Marangching area of Tamenglong district, the burning of a cement laden dumper truck engaged in the Jiribam-Imphal railway construction work and the pulling down of the Marangching Khullakpa by womenfolk from the hands of police recently.
Joykisan said that the railway work has been banned since February 16 demanding recovery of compensation amount given away to two individuals fraudulently which was entitled to land owners effected by the railway line and befitting action against the DC concerned.
The DC had released over Rs 12 crore and given Rs 24,79,898.82 to two individuals as land compensation but the Khullakpa has been contending that the DC committed ablunder by giving the amount to the two individuals.
Even as the DC directed the UBI MG Avenue branch to freeze the amount, the same amount had been already withdrawn, Joykisan said.
Replying to the call attention motion, Chief Minister N Biren said that the matter of payment land compensation has reached Court and the Court would pass a final verdict on February 27.As such, it would not be proper to discuss the matter in the House, he added.
