Imphal, February 22 2016:
The
protest against the renaming
of Thangting SBO/BDO as
Kangvai subdivision under
the aegis of Khousabung
Subdivision Demand
Committee (KSDDC)
continued at Khousabung
where protesters staged sit-
in cum candle light vigil for
the 12th consecutive day
today.
The protesters have
been demanding renaming
of Thangting as
Khousabung subdivision
as per the wishes of the
people covered by the new
SDO/BDO circle.
Social activist S
Lienmang addressed the
protesters tonight at
Khousabung.
Amongst others, village
elders and some chiefs of
the area took part in the
demonstration tonight.
Meanwhile, KSDDC
secretary S Gouneu has
urged the Govt to meet the
demand for reviewing of
the Cabinet decision that
approved renaming of
Thangting SDO/BDO as
Kangvai SDO/BDO.
The
Govt should respect the
voice of the people and if
it continues to ignore the
democratic protest then the
Committee would be
compelled to intensify its
stir, he warned .
