The Zeliangrong Baudi Manipur State has denounced the alleged disturbances created by the Sikh and Gorkha regiments of Indian Army in and around Khaupum Valley of Noney District of Manipur.
The villagers, farmers, cultivators and others who earn their daily wages in the area are facing acute hardship due to continuous operations and deployment of military personnel in the name of flashing out the underground outfits from the valley, said a statement of ZB Manipur State.
At a time when the farmers are aggrieved by the deficit rainfall, the Indian Army are harassing the poor villagers by confining all the villagers in a particular place and not allowing to go out to their fields to work, it said and claimed that random frisking carried out by the Indian Army toward the womenfolk is also condemnable.

The bombs left behind from the random firing have claimed the lives of many people.
Many such unexploded bombs have been recovered by the State bomb experts and still many are feared lying in the cultivation area, it added.
Stating that the ZB Manipur State also condemned the alleged nexus or alliance of Indian Army with an insurgent group who are having cease fire with Government of India while carrying out operation to flash out other underground outfits and harassing the general public in the area, it appealed the authority concerned to withdraw their operation in the jungle of Khaupum Valley area in the interest of the villagers at the earliest.
