Bishnupur, May 21 2024:
A felicitation programme for displaced students taking refuge at Phubala relief camp who have passed the Higher Secondary Examination 2024 conducted by Council of Higher Secondary Education Manipur (COHSEM) was held in the relief camp yesterday.
The felicitation programme was held as a part of the series of programmes under 'Psycho-social and Recovery Therapy through music and motivational talks' organized by New Life foundation Manipur in association with Keipha Band Thamnapokpi.
The psycho-social and recovery therapy programmes are being held in a bid to ease the pain and suffering of the conflict survivors taking shelter at numerous relief camps ever since the outbreak of the tragic ethnic conflict in May last year.
During the programme, New Life Foundation Secretary Dr L Pishak and Social Activist Dr Dhanabir Laishram delivered motivational lectures thereby giving valuable insights on how to overcome the challenges faced amid these tough times and lead a normal life.
The lecture was followed by a musical programme performed by renowned artistes of the State to cheer up the conflict survivors staying in the relief camp.
Speaking at the occasion, Dr Dhanabir Laishram lauded the outstanding performance of the students in the Class XII examinations and their grit and resilience amid the crisis situation.
He highlighted the importance of being optimistic and to inculcate the courage to fight the hurdles to be successful in life.
Expressing dismay over the Government and authorities concerned failure to resolve the communal conflict which has been going on for more than a year, Dr L Pishak stressed on the need of promoting the physical and mental being of the conflict victims especially the ones who have been rendered homeless thereby compelling to take refuge at relief camps.
In view of the above, the psycho-social and recovery therapy through music and motivational talks are being held at relief camps to help the conflict survivors sail through these challenging times, he said.
The displaced students who were felicitated are Ragestri Longjam of Churachandpur New Bazar Zion Street; Kongrailakpam Banita of Torbung Bazar; Chingakham Rahul of Tuibong Forest Gate; Gitanjali Khundongbam of Gangpimol Churachandpur; Thongam Dayananda of Torbung Bangla; Pukhrambam Renson of Churachandpur Khumujamba Meitei Leikai and Angom Roshni of Churachandpur Khuga Tampak.
The meritorious students were honoured by presenting gifts by the Phubala Relief Camp Volunteer Committee while New Life Foundation Manipur presented shawls to the inmates of the relief camp.
