CCpur, March 21 2018:
An inspection conducted by a team of officials on various schemes undertaken by the DRDA, Social Welfare and Medical departments, within LamkaTD Block, has exposed considerable loopholes.
The team comprising of technical staffs from three departments and headed by Deputy Commissioner, Shyam Lai Poonia, inspected the works implemented under MGNREGS, PMAY-G while ascertaining the functioning of Anganwadi Centres and PHSCs at six locations.
An official press release following the inspection, stated that the team discovered the quality of work was not up to par with the approved specifications in few places.
They have also interacted with a few job card holders to enquire about receipts of wages in time and have also examined records maintained by the VAs.
'It was observed that extant guidelines pertaining to maintenance and updation of seven mandatory registers under MGNREGS were not adhered to for which the DC directed the Village Authorities concerned and instructed the BDO to ensure compliance of the scheme guidelines in letter and spirit.
Also the BDO was instructed to conduct training of Village Authorities in smaller groups for effective maintenance of records,' said the release.
During the course of their inspection, the team also established that most Anganwadi Centres are not functioning properly and that construction of buildings for Anganwadi Centres were not taken up as per approved specification.
As such the DPO (ICDS) was directed to submit a detailed clarification regarding the matter along with a proposal for remedial action within a week.
At the New Lamka and Thingkangphai PHSCs, which was inspected today, the ANM in-charge was directed to improve the record keeping, even as the CMO was directed to take necessary action and to submit her report on some staff, who were absent at Thingkhangphai.
The CMO was also advised to do regular inspection of all the PHCs and PHSCs and to ensure supply of essential equipment and registers.
As for the PHAYG houses inspected at Zenhang Lamka and Thingkangphai, the work progress was found to be satisfactory, the statement added.
