Imphal, October 20 2016:
Gearing up for the upcoming 11th Manipur Legislative Assembly election, a one day political conference was held today at Saikul Public Ground, Saikul Bazaar under the aegis of the Bharatiya Janata Party, 46- Saikul (ST) Mandal.
Former MLA of Saikul AC Doukhomang Khongsai, former Minister C Doungel, former president of BJP Manipur Pradesh Shanti Kumar Sharma, vice president of BJP Manipur Pradesh AR Khan and president of 46- Saikul (ST) BJP Mandal Tonglen Khongsai graced the programme as presidium members.
Even though the 24 hours general strike called by the All Manipur Tribal Students' Union was in effect, a large number of residents attended the political conference.
Addressing at the political conference, Doukhomang who is also an intending BJP candidate from 46-Saikul AC said that if the 46-Saikul AC is to develop and prosper like other States, people should choose the right leader and right political party.
"To bring a change, we should first change the way we elect a representative", he added.
The Congress party has been alleging Bharatiya Janata Party of being anti-Christian or anti-Muslim.
The allegation is baseless, he said.
He further said that the Narendra Modi led NDA Govt has been striving to bring changes in every field.
Doukhomang stated that if we are to develop according to our needs and changing environment, people should elect only BJP candidates in the upcoming election.
"In the last decade, there have been little changes in Saikul AC because we elected an incompetent leader," he said.
As the State Govt lacks vision, there has been no remarkable development in any field.
The State is collapsing due to rampant corruption and high handed attitude of the State Government while handling issues.
While C Doungel, a seasoned politician and also an intending BJP candidate from 46-Saikul AC said that people should elect the right candidate so as to bring better changes in the area.
For the last many years, the State Govt has failed to take up any quality based developmental works across the State particularly in Saikul areas.
It is very unfortunate that the local MLA has also failed to provide necessary infrastructural development including proper connectivity, power, water and other basic amenities.
Shantikumar Sharma also stressed on the immediate need to mobilize booth level committee members and begin micro-level planning.
