Thang-ta course underway

The second 10-day refresh course for Thang-Ta Instructors organised by Kanglei Indigenous Martial Arts and cultural Society (Kimacs) in collaboration with BOSEM and SCERT got underway from today at Government Dance College hall, Palace Compound.
The course inauguration programme was held with BOSEM Secretary L Rajmohan, Kimacs president Saikhom Nodia Mangang and SCERT Joint Director M Meenakumari Devi as the chief guest, functional president and guest of honour respectively.
Delivering the welcome address, Kimacs general secretary N Pakpa stressed that inclusion of Thang-ta as a common school syllabus would not only preserve and help in further development of the ancient Manipuri martial art form but would imbibe sense of discipline to the students through its learning process.
Further expressing that development of the martial art form as a component of the school curriculum would further enhance Manipuri art and culture in the global context, Pakpa stated that every section of the society need to contribute their mite in the development of one's own culture and traditions.
