Imphal, August 19 2019:
Mao Imphal Coordination Committee (MICC) has announced that Mao Keithel will be opened at Wangkhei Puja Lampak tomorrow.
Speaking to media persons at Youth Voluntary Organisation (YVO) office at Wangkhei Puja Lampak today, MICC media in charge Waikhom Ravi said that vendors from Mao were banned from selling their goods at Nagaland by Southern Angami Youth Organisation in 2015 due to some land disputes.
After careful deliberation among IPSA, PANDM, IPAK, ACOAM-Lup, KSA, CLK, KILL and Mao Union, Mao Keithel was established at Nagamapal on July 3 the same year.
The then State Government decided to shift the market to Lamphel for the time being but as the location was not suitable, MICC organised Mao Keithel at Keishampat Leimajam Leikai on July 30 this year.
The market has been organised ever since by shifting the venues, he added.
He continued that since 2015, MICC has been appealing the Government to provide an appropriate place/location for Mao Keithel and added that the current BJP Government should address this point and show its commitment by action and not words.
On the other hand, Mao Union Imphal vice president Kholi Asuli expressed gratitude to all the CSOs and youth clubs concerned of the valley which helped tremendously in ensuring the existence of Mao Keithel and added that if a particular location is provided so as to establish a permanent venue for the market, it will greatly help the vendors and sellers.
Kholi Asuli further appealed to all those concerned, including police, not to create any difficulties and hindrance to the people who are bringing the produces to sell at Mao Market.
YVO advisor, LC Ruhinikumar informed that YVO volunteers are ready to provide every possible assistance to ensure the success of Mao Keithel tomorrow.
