Zeliangrong bodies hail 'framework agreement'

Imphal, August 19 2015:
The Eastern Liangmai, Manipur organised a thanksgiving programme at Makhen village today on the framework agreement which was recently signed between the Government of India and the NSCN (IM) .
Speaking at the function, Awangbou Newmai, president, NPF, Manipur stated that the framework agreement was a milestone which will pave way for permanent peace in the region.
Saying that peace is priceless, Awangbow said everyone should welcome the peace accord.
"We welcome the Naga Peace Accord and with prayer we will continue to support the accord," Awangbow said.
He fervently appealed to all the people of the State not to make any false statement regarding the peace accord that could create communal tension.
Moreover, the steps taken up by the GOI and NSCN-IM were not only for the benefit of a single community but for all.
He said both the leaders will find the solution which will be acceptable to all, he added.
The function was also attended by M Panamthinang, secretary LNC, Senapati Zone, Kaidet, Pastor, Insak B/church, R Machundoubou, president LNC, R Winilungbou, president Eastern Liangmei.
A silent prayer was also observed for the martyrs who had sacrificed their lives for the cause of the Nagas.
Around 30 villages took part in the programme.
Village chiefs, leaders of several civil organizations, students and pastors attended the programme.
Different dance troupes also presented items.
Meanwhile, the Zeliangrong Baudi (AMN) has congratulated Isak Chisi Swu, chairman of NSCN-IM, Thuingaleng Muivah, general secretary and other leaders for greatly enhancing the Naga national entity with its rich cultural heritage and historical uniqueness in the contemporary global scenario.
The preliminary "framework agreement" inked on Aug 3 between the Government of India and Government of the People's Republic of Nagalim should be appreciated by all sections.
ZB welcomed any peace accord for good.
The people of Northeast have been yearning for peace and development in the region.
The wisdom on the part of the sovereign, socialist, secular, democratic republic of India should be recognized.
The NSCN (IM) leaders on the other hand, shall be appreciated for their rational thought.
The NDA Government under a dynamic, honest and pragmatic leadership deserves high applause from all, and the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, the Union Home Minister, Rajnath Singh, the External Affairs Minister, Sushma Swaraj, RN Ravi and other senior leaders also deserved praise for their integrity and wisdom, it said.
ZB hopes that the Accord of 2015 will bring peace, harmony and development to the North Eastern region in general and Naga inhabited areas in particular.
It also expressed confidence that the factional clashes and internecine bloodshed amongst the Naga armed groups would end with the signing of the peace accord.
