Panchayat Parishad warns to boycott Assembly election

Thoubal, January 19 2022: Thoubal District Panchayat Parishad has appealed to the Government to release funds allocated for the Gram Panchayats within Thoubal district before January 25, failing which, the Parishad will boycott the upcoming State Assembly Election.

Addressing a press conference held at Thoubal DC Complex, Sangaiyumpham Part-1 pradhan and spokesperson of the Parishad, Md Zakir stated that the State Government has been withholding the tied and untied funds of second installment of 15th Finance Commission 2020-2021for more than eight months.

"Moreover, about Rs 160 crore of funds for State Finance Commission 2021- 2022 and MGNREGA 2020- 2021 released by the Liability Centre have also been withheld by the Government", he alleged.

The conference was attended by pradhans and members of 25 Gram Panchayats of Thoubal district.
