MSF Jiribam condemns teacher transfer, warns to shut down schools

Jiribam, November 18 2017:
Manipuri Students' Federation (MSF) District Committee, Jiribam condemned the recent transfer order of eight teachers from Jiribam and cautioned to shut down two schools in Jiribam permanently, if the authority concerned fail to revoke the transfer order within November 25 .
Speaking at a press meet held at MSF office today, vice president Md Sabir Ahmed stated that the Government schools in Jiribam have been continuously demanding the authority concerned to provide the required number of teachers at the schools and on the contrary, eight new teachers of Jiribam were served with transfer order on November 10, amidst the grievances.
It can be recalled that Joint Secretary of Education (S), L Nandakumar Singh issued a transfer order of 86 lecturers from different parts of the State in which eight were from Jiribam.
MSF warned that it would shut down Jiribam Higher Secondary School and Borobekra Higher Secondary School, permanently, if the authority concerned fail to cancel the order within November 25 .
Decrying the action, Md Sabir Ahmed further remarked such act of transferring the teachers, especially when the examinations are near, as unfortunate and added that it would obviously hinder the academic process and would fail to serve any quality education to the students.
He stated that such action is condemnable and MSF considered it as the an act of shutting down the schools by the Government.
He appealed the State Government and the authority concerned to revoke the transfer of five teachers from Jiribam Higher Secondary School and three from Borobekra Higher Secondary School within the stipulated time.
It stated that the CSOs in Jiribam will join hands to launch different forms of agitation if the authority concerned neglects the demand of MSF.
Finance secretary A Ratan Singh and Assistant finance secretary Th Samananda Singh were present at the press meet.
Meanwhile, DESAM Jiri Local Council in a statement issued by its president L Bikas Meitei also condemned the issue of transfer order of Jiribam teachers.
