ILPS put off

The decision to enforce Inner Line Permit System (ILPS) in Manipur from November 19 has been put off indefinitely.
An understanding was reached to this effect during a meeting between representatives of the Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS) and the State Government represented by Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam and Law Minister Debendra.
Speaking to media persons at HERICOUN office this evening, JCILPS convenor Sapamcha Jadumani conveyed about the State Government's assertion that it was working relentlessly to persuade the Centre permit enforcement of ILPS in the State.
The Deputy Chief Minister while pointing out that the Chief Minister is currently out of station asked the JCILPS to put off its decision to issue forms and enforce ILPS from tomorrow for sometime.
After considering the Deputy CM's appeal, the JCILPS agreed to put off its decision to enforce ILPS from tomorrow.
The Deputy CM also assured to ensure participation of Government representatives in the sit-in-protest scheduled to be staged at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi on November 25.Gaikhangam also assured to look into the demand to constitute legislature forum and all political parties forum for enforcement of ILPS in Manipur.
