Zeliangrong students' meet held

Imphal, September 18 2013: The first ever Freshers cum Social Meet of Zeliangrong Students' Union, Silchar was conducted with great prompt and gaiety on Sept 14 at District Library Auditorium, Silchar.

The programme began with the unfurling of Zeliangrong flag and singing of Zeliangrong Anthem followed by ceremonial blowing of Bull-horn and sacred fire-making.

The meeting was graced by Professor KV Nagaraj, Pro-Vice Chancellor, Assam University and Gokul Mohan Hazarika, Deputy Commissioner, Cachar as the Chief Guest and Guest of Honour respectively.

Besides, many eminent scholars, national workers, leaders of All Tribal Students' Union, Manipur attended the function.

Pou Tingenglung Pamei, President, All Zeliangrong Students' Union (AMN), Executive Members of Zeliangrong Students' Union Manipur, Pou Pantilung Ruangmei, President of Tribal Sangha Cachar District, church leaders, parents from different Zeliangrong villages and various other tribal student organizations of Silchar participated in the event.

Zeliangrong singers Guru Jiangam Kamei, Mathiujei Kamei, Julia Rongmei from Manipur, Zeliangrong comedian Mana Panme from NC Hills and Zeliangrong actors Pou Kachangthai Gonmei and Lu Aguale Pame also performed and cheers the crowd and made the programme more colourful.
