Imphal, May 18 2016: The Kundrakpam Kendra Youth's Organisation (KHUKYO) has expressed strong disapproval of the ongoing campaign for inclusion of Meiteis in ST category.

In a statement, the secretary of KHUKYO I Tony stated that there are far more important issues to deal with than demanding ST status for Meiteis like AFSPA and ILP.

He further stated that the demand of ST status for the Meiteis just for the sake of a few benefits would breed hatred and suspicion among many tribes of Manipur against Meiteis and it is the handiwork of some people who are not interested/lazy in building human resources.

It also appealed to all concerned to rectify the mistake of demanding ST status for Meiteis.
