Decks clear for Meetei Mayek TET

After a prolonged discussion, the expert committee on Meetei Mayek Teachers Eligibility Test (TET) consisting representatives from State Education Department, language experts and educationists have decided to conduct TET for Meetei Mayek.
According to information received by Hueiyen Lanpao, in this regard, Principal Secretary Education (S) Suresh Babu chaired a high level meeting at the Secretariat office chamber of Education Minister M Okendro on Monday and prepared a draft resolution for necessary actions.
As per the resolution of the meeting, the total duration of the test would be of 3 hours and the entire test paper would be in multiple choice question patterns.
They also decided class 12 or its equivalent and above as the required educational qualification to sit for the test.
Aspirants belonging to general category and SC/ST should respectively obtain 50% and 45% marks at their higher secondary exam.
The 150 marks test question paper would be divided into two parts; aptitude and general knowledge for 30 marks and language proficiency part of 120 marks consisting poetry (30 marks), prose (30 marks), grammar (20 marks), writing skills (30 marks) and reading skills (10 marks) while the second part would be based on higher secondary level's Major Indian Language (MIL) syllabus.
The expert committee also decided to remove all the unwanted characters from the 27 Unicode of Meetei Mayek and forwarded a draft copy of the resolution to concerned department for necessary action.
The meeting also decided to forward a draft resolution copy to state govt's concerned authorities for approval.
Meanwhile, for further discussion of the matter, Education Minister M OKendro has invited another round of meeting of the expert committee after upcoming Assembly session.
